A weather shield kit consisting of a front and rear cover shield must be installed on all ventilated dry-type distribution transformers when the unit is located outdoors. The shields protect the transformer top ventilation openings against rain but allow for proper ventilation. Field installation hardware is not required. Refer to specific transformer listing for selection of weather shield kit. Proper installation provides a NEMA 3R rating.
